CHARMING HOUSES IN A HISTORIC RESIDENCE

Borgopetra

Born in the 18th century and the heart of numerous agricultural activities, lovingly restored, Borgopetra is open to hospitality: it consists of various spaces divided into several housing units and many outdoor areas: gardens, a gym, vegetable gardens, a common area with a ping pong table and billiards. The structure welcomes travelers in various spaces arranged around the inner courtyard and offers houses of different sizes, all tastefully furnished with family furniture and finds from around the world: two apartments of over 100 sqm that can accommodate up to 6 people, with kitchen, private services, and exclusive outdoor spaces, and two small suites that can accommodate up to 3 people, also with kitchen, private services, and outdoor spaces. The guest houses open onto a square courtyard. The lava stone windows overlook the vegetable garden and the garden.

The structure and hospitality

The structure consists of various spaces arranged around the inner courtyard and divided into several housing units. The lava stone doors and windows of Borgopetra’s suites overlook the large square courtyard paved with terracotta tiles, the “open heart” of the house. Among the century-old oleanders thrives a collection of cacti and succulents, and summer nights are scented with jasmine.
From the two terraces, you can see Mount Etna to the north and, beyond the roofs of old Mascalucia, Catania and the sea to the south.

Between the walnut and mulberry trees, the apricot and orange trees, the palm and pepper trees, the plum tree, and the pergola of ancient grapes, the old orchard hosts the pool and the large theater building. In the northern and western land strips, the vegetable garden produces small forests of broccoli and lettuce in winter, fava beans in spring, tomatoes, eggplants, and zucchini in summer. Here and there are citrus trees and many aromatic herbs that guests can find in the kitchens of the houses. To the south, in the small garden within the ancient walls of the Casa del Barone, myrtle, mint, sage, and thyme mix with flowering plants in all seasons.

Everything you need. And a little more. We have made this old house efficient and comfortable, with great  attention to detail and guest well-being. Not only new and safe facilities but also many small conveniences: equipped kitchens, washing machines in some houses, electric kettles, library books for those seeking relaxation, the fireplace, outdoor tables, and deck chairs.
